Web Standards

We here at Myriad Galleries are proud of the fact that our web site is fully standard compliant allowing us to both reach a broader audience and assure that our web site will render properly in all future versions of today's browsers.

Why are web standards so important?

Everybody knows about web standards, yet only a few go the extra mile to comply with them. So why are these widely disregarded standards so important? Well the answer lies in the maturing of the world wide web. Back in the early nineties when the web was nothing more then a bunch of links leading from one site to the other, there was no need for any standardization as nobody had anticipated that the internet would become such an explosive force of the future. Today, the WWW is expanding at such a rapid rate that standards are required to keep up with the emerging technologies. The W3 Consortium sets all these standards but only a very small percentage of websites actually take the effort to be fully compliant and thats why the web is still unable to reach its fully capacity. But today more and more companies are trying to strive for this universal goal and Myriad Galleries is happy to be one of them.

What browsers are standards compliant?

Most browsers today are or at least attempt to be standards compliant to some degree. Modern browsers like Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, and Internet Explorer support W3C standards to some extent.
Firefox and Safari (Konqueror) have the best standards support we've seen to date.
